There are three opportunities for competitions at the Fall Showcase in Morehead on November 27. The deadline for entry is October 11 – the Thursday before Court Day break. These include:
· Showcase project – 4 students working as a group to present on a topic. Students must be interviewed by the judges and help to create a backdrop board for the project. This is the most labor intensive project available for the Fall.
· Live Reporting – Students who are interested in reporting live from the stage at Rupp Arena at State Competition in March must “apply” for the job now. Students who are selected for the State Reporting Team will report on the topic of their choice (something that is happening at State Competition). To apply, students will present information about themselves and be interviewed at the Fall Showcase. Students must create a sample video to show off their interviewing skills – asking interesting questions of the interviewee, looking professional in front of the camera, etc. While being interviewed, students must be able to elaborate on their skills and experience interviewing others, formulating questions, reporting, getting a story, and being on stage.
· Twitter Service- This competition is to allow students to apply to be a STLP Tweet team member at State in March. To apply, students must be interviewed by judges to show off their skills in texting, interviewing others, and writing about events. Students will need to create a Twitter account and practice using it frequently in order to prepare.
