Each child will receive a YEARLY goal from their teacher. Most rewards will be based on the percentage of the yearly goal that each student has met. The rewards will be as follows:
Semester parties
At the end of the 1st semester, all students who are "on track" to meet their yearly goal (have met at least 50% of their yearly goal) will be eligible to attend the Half Time Show. For example, if your child's yearly goal was 40 points, he/she would need 20 points by the end of the 2nd nine weeks in order to attend.
2nd nine weeks (50%) - Halftime Show
4th nine weeks (100%) - MSE's MVP Party
Percentage Clubs
At any point throughout the school year, when a student reaches the following percentage goals, he/she will be inducted into that specific "club" and will receive the corresponding reward. For example, if your child's yearly goal is 40 points, when he/she reaches 10%, or 4 points, he/she will be inducted into the 10% - Olympic Wreath Club. When 25% is reached, regardless of what point in the year this happens, he/she will be inducted into the 25% - Trophy Club. Some students may reach the 100% - Gold Medal Club several months earlier than other students. The time frame is less important than the final outcome. We want all students reaching 100% by the end of the school year.
10% Olympic Wreath Club - Pencil OR Bookmark
25% Trophy Club - Tattoo
50% Bronze Medal Club - Bouncy Ball
75% Silver Medal Club - Thumb print on "stadium bleachers" on Library Bulletin Board
100% Gold Medal Club - Receive a MVP Pass to the MVP Party (which also makes you eligible for additional perks such as homework passes, the ability to check out additional library books, etc.), your name added to MVP List Poster in the library, a certificate, and a surprise to be handed out at the MVP Party at the end of the school year
Point Clubs
The only time points (rather than percentages) will be used to reward students will be when students reach an OUTSTANDING amount of points throughout the year. This way, even our students who quickly reach the 100% Gold Medal Club will have something to keep working for. Point Clubs will begin with 50 points earned. When a student reaches each point goal for the school year, they will be inducted into that Point Club and receive the corresponding reward.
50 Point Club - Sports item
100 Point Club - Grab bag
200 Point Club - Personal Game Day with friend during Library
300 Point Club - $25 in Book Fair bucks for the next Book Fair
350 Point Club - Name engraved on a plaque which will hang in our school
700 Point Club - T-shirt
Wildcat Walk for classrooms who earn 1000 points
Each month, the top point earner in each homeroom will have their pictures made with the Sports props and backdrop. The pictures will be made into posters that look like a magazine cover and displayed throughout the school for one month.
In March, a special treat will be awarded to our top readers in the 4th grade. Five 4th grade girls, and five 4th grade boys who have earned the most points by March 1st will be invited to go Cosmic Bowling at Sterling Lanes on Friday, March 8 from 11:30 PM until 2:30 AM. Bowling will be paid for, but food and/or video game money will need to be brought by each individual student. Selected Team MSE staff members will be attending this MVP Event.
